Most fuel-efficient petrol cars of 2021

Increasing fuel prices are so high that it's an understatement to say that. Petrol has risen to Rs 36 a litre, while diesel has risen to Rs 27 per litre in the past nineteen months. The drop in excise duties that the government made last month was only a little relief to consumers. Fuel efficiency has become a significant priority for most people buying a car at this point in time.

Because most new mass-market cars this year were petrol-only, we have focused on petrol cars for this list. Here are 2021's fuel-efficient cars.

Maruti Suzuki Celerio

One of India's most fuel-efficient cars, the new-generation Maruti Suzuki Celerio, was recently launched. The Celerio now has the highest ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 26.68 kmpl. Even better than certain diesel cars in the compact hatchback segment. The VXI AGS model has the best fuel economy of 26.68 kmpl. In terms of fuel efficiency, the Zxi+ MT trim is the least fuel-efficient model, delivering 24.97 kmpl.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire AMT

Maruti Suzuki Dzire facelift replaced the 1.2-liter K12M petrol engine with the 1.2-liter K12N unit, which has a start-stop feature, making it one of the most significant changes. Maruti Suzuki Dezire is one of the most fuel-efficient petrol car. It now offers more power and efficiency in both 5-speed manual and AMT forms.

Maruti Suzuki Swift

Maruti Suzuki Swift facelift was launched in 2018. The Maruti Suzuki Swift, one of India's most popular cars, was the most popular passenger car in the year 2021. One of its highlights is its fuel-efficient engine. The compact hatchback gets 23.76 kmpl, as per ARAI.

Maruti Suzuki Alto

This model has a 48hp 0.8-liter engine certified by the ARAI's 22.05kpl fuel efficiency. Despite its basic design and a small cabin, the Maruti Suzuki Alto is a popular car due to its lower price, excellent efficiency, and low maintenance cost.

Renault Kwid

Even Renault India launched the updated 2021 Kwid earlier this year. One of the most fuel-efficient cars. The car's ARAI-certified fuel efficiency is 22 kmpl for the 1.0-liter AMT variant.

Maruti Ignis

Maruti's Ignis is an underrated but a pricey hatchback. The 1.2-liter K12M petrol engine in the Maruti Suzuki Ignis delivers an ARAI mileage of 20.89kpl in manual and AMT automatic transmissions.

Renault Kiger

The all-new Renault Kiger was launched in 2021. It is its first subcompact SUV and has the same CMF-A+ platform as the Triber. The Kiger is available with two petrol engines: a 1.0-liter normally aspirated engine and a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine, the latter providing an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency of 20.53 kmpl.

Tata Punch

The Tata Punch was among the most awaited cars in India this year. Based on the company's ALFA platform, the micro-SUV looks attractive and has smart features. It has a five-star safety rating from Global NCAP. The only powertrain option is a petrol engine, rated with an average fuel efficiency of 18.97 kmpl by ARAI.
