Tata Nexon EV Review

Tata Nexon EV is one of the most desirable electric vehicles in the Indian car market. It offers a decent range, a long list of creature comfort features, and robust safety.

The electric version of the cars is now gaining more traction, as they are successfully fulfilling the needs of the customer and environment as well. As there is zero emission from an electric vehicle (EV), they are more eco-friendly. Tata has launched Nexon EV. To make sure it looks like a normal car, it has not made any significant changes with the exterior of the car. From far, it looks like a normal Nexon. It is feature loaded and its powerful electric motor offers a good performance on the Indian roads.

Exterior

The looks of Nexon EV are very bold and aggressive. The machine design is so impactful that it creates its own presence on road. From the front, the bonnet is given with edgy cuts making it look very strong and powerful as expected from an SUV. The headlamps are with Tri-arrow DRLs with a very sleek design. Electric blue accents are given at the humanity line, side beltline, and X-factor. This finish is very unique and makes the entire look stand-out.

From the side, the look is very aligned. The roof style is floating equipped with the roof rails. The two-tone with another colour is given in very much detailing. The entire structure is very much symmetrical. Door side body cladding is given to avoid any kind of scratch from small collisions. The ORVM is in piano black finish with turn indicators. The door handle is body-coloured.

The tyre is 16-inch with diamond cut alloy wheels. The rear of the car is very charismatic, the mix-match of the body colour and piano finish is making the look very premium. The tail lamps also look fresh in design.

Interior

Tata has used bright colours in the interiors of Nexon EV. The light colours of the interior are making the entire cabin area very open and airy. The interior is based on the tri-arrow theme. The seat upholstery is given in fabric and leatherette depending on the variant. Both the upholstery is of very luxe quality.

Like the seats, the door trim inserts are also in fabric and leatherette varying with the variant. The power window controls are given at the driver side door. An electric button to set the positioning of the ORVM from inside is given for both sides. An umbrella insert section is given at the door separately. The pocket-size is good enough to hold the bottles. The electric blue accents are given inside as well in terms of framing. The instrument panel is a 7-inch TFT digital cluster which is completely offering a graphic display. It comes with voice alerts for seat belt reminder, door open, driving modes activation. This feature in specific helps the driver in multiple ways. The panel is easy to understand.

The steering is flat bottom and is leather-wrapped. The steering is very soft and comfortable to handle. The infotainment system controls are given on the steering along with the instrument panel controls.

The center console starts with the infotainment system. The system offered here is of Harman which is generally seen in the premium segment. It is a 7inch touchscreen system offering all the best possible connectivity features of phone and entertainment. The system offers here 4-8 speakers depending on the variant.

Parking assistance and tyre alignment are graphically shown on the screen. Moving beneath the infotainment the ac winds are wide open, which offers a good amount of airflow. The climate control and access are given in manual button form.

Center console is equipped with a storage area and inflow to the same a rotatory button is given, which offers drive mode and transmission control as well. The glove box is cool, deep, and has a good storage space.

The rear seats are very comfortable and are 100 per cent flip flat to increase the loading area if ever required. The boot spaces offered is 340 litres.

Safety and riding experience

This version has been tagged with a 5-star safety rating by the Global NCAP crash test. The car is loaded with safety features. Airbags for driver and co-driver, ABS with EBD and CSC. It ensures complete safety from inside.

Engine Options

As this is electric transmission it is powered by Ziptron engine that generates 129 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque. It also offers multi drive modes including Sport and Drive.

The Nexon EV comes in three variants of electric transmission and the prices start from 13.99 lakhs and go up to 16.25 lakhs.
