Tata Motors to launch its most fuel-efficient cars

As of next month, Tata Motors plans to introduce the CNG-powered Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor in India. Unofficial booking has already started for both models.

At the moment, the Tata Tiago and Tata Tigor are available exclusively in petrol versions. Both the cars run on same naturally aspirated three-cylinder Revotron 1.2-litre petrol engine that generates up to 86PS and 113Nm of maximum torque. Both cars are available with a five-speed manual or automatic transmission. Tata may launch CNG cars exclusively with a manual transmission.

The Tata Tiago is one of Tata Motors' best-selling cars. However, the Tata Tigor has not performed well in terms of sales. However, as fuel prices continue to rise, both the Tata Tiago CNG and the Tata Tigor CNG are expected to gain traction.

Tata Tiago variants include the XE, XT(O), XT, XZ, XT, and XZ+. The Tata Tigor is available in XE, XM, XZ, and XZ+ variants, and the Tiago CNG will be available in the XT variant, while the Tigor CNG will introduce in the XM model.

The Tata Tiago CNG will be priced around Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom). The Hyundai Santro CNG and Maruti Suzuki WagonR CNG will be in direct competition with the Tata Tigor CNG, which will be on sale for approximately Rs 6.75 lakh (ex-showroom). It will also compete with Maruti Suzuki's upcoming Dzire CNG.
