India's top affordable cars equipped with ADAS

ADAS is a set of autonomous features that improves a vehicle's active safety. Unlike airbags, which are passive safety measures that keep you safe during a collision, active safety features operate in real-time to avoid a crash.

To function properly, ADAS requires plenty of cameras or sensors that monitor the immediate surroundings. Once integrated data into the system, cars may perform some self-driving functions on the road. The amount of hardware and software included determine the level of autonomy.

Following are the most affordable cars with ADAS

1.   MG Gloster

The MG Gloster is the first car on this list to include adaptive cruise control and several advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Additionally, it is the largest and most expensive car on this list.

The MG Gloster is a full-size premium SUV with several amenities such as 360-degree surround-view cameras, massaging seats, a wireless charger, cooled seats, a PM2.5 filter, powered seats, automatic headlights, and driving modes.

Two engines are available to power this huge beast. 2WD models have a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine with 160 bhp and 375 Newton meters of torque, while 4WD models have a more powerful twin-turbo system with 215 bhp and 480 Newton meters of torque.

Starting price is Rs 29.98 lakh (ex-showroom), and price ranges up to Rs 37.68 lakh for the top-of-the-line variant (ex-showroom, India).

2.   Mahindra XUV700

The Mahindra XUV700 is one of India's most popular SUVs. It got over 25,000 bookings within an hour after the booking window opened.

The new Mahindra XUV700 is a full-size SUV equipped with a variety of advanced driver aid technology. Apart from that, the Mahindra XUV700 features a digital driver display, an electric sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a power tailgate, powered ORVMs, ventilated seats, and a ten-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The Mahindra XUV700 is available with one petrol engine, two diesel engines, and a six-speed or six-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine makes 197 bhp. Both diesel engines are 2.2-liter units, with the more powerful producing 182 bhp and the less powerful producing a decent 153 bhp.

The base petrol model of the Mahindra XUV700 with five seats costs 11.99 lakh rupees (ex-showroom).

3.   MG Astor

It's not just the newest SUV on this list, but it's also the most reasonably priced one with ADAS. It's a great value for the money.

The MG Astor has LED projector headlights, chrome-tipped tailpipes, chrome window lines, LED daytime running lights, a leather-layered dashboard, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a shark fin antenna, three steering modes, power windows, tilt-adjustable steering, keyless entry, and electrically operated ORVMs.

The MG Astor will come with an option of two engines. The first engine is a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 108.5bhp and 144Nm of torque. Either the 5-speed manual or the 8-speed CVT transmission will be available with this engine.

For more power and torque, the 1.3-liter turbocharged petrol engine from MG is available with 138bhp and 220Nm. There is only a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission to go along with this particular engine.

Price starts at Rs 9.78 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and goes up to Rs 17.38 lakh for the most expensive variant of MG Astor (ex-showroom, India).

With more traffic and better driver behavior, adaptive cruise control and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) can significantly enhance road safety and minimize the frequency of accidents.
