Fifth-gen Honda City launched at 10.90 lakh

Honda City has been India's favorite mid-size sedan for over a decade now. Honda has launched the new generation City with much fanfare. It is now pitted against the likes of Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, and Toyota Yaris.

The last generation City has aggressive lines and a sporty look. The new generation model has departed from that design language. The new City might look like a smaller Civic at first glance. It has gentle lines and a more subtle grille.

The fifth-gen City is also 14 mm taller and 109 mm longer that its closes rival Verna. The front design looks heavily inspired from Accord. It now comes with a signature chrome bar at the front and its top strip stretches across the car's nose. Its sharp headlights have multi-reflecting LED lamps.

Its contrasting interiors have a combination of black palate and light brown with loads of soft touch materials. The plastic used on the dashboard is glossy but looks premium. Seats are neatly stitched, plush, and offer good lumbar support. And it also offers the best in class rear seat with ample leg and head room.

All-new Honda City will come with naturally aspirated i-VTEC 1.5 litre 4-cylinder petrol motor. It will churn 119.35 bhp of power. The new BS6 compliant engine is equipped with double-overhead-cam (DOHC) to deliver top-end power, extra refinement, and greater fuel efficiency. It comes mated to manual and CVT transmission.

It also offer 1.5 litre diesel engine option. The BS6 diesel engine is now more refined and Honda has managed to contain the cabin noise levels efficiently.

The base trim of Honda City comes equipped with 4 airbags and higher trims offer up to 6 airbags. It is also equipped with EBD, ABS, vehicle stability control, traction control, and hill start assist. In case of an accident or technical malfunction, the car is capable of automatically intimating emergency services and sharing GPS coordinates.
