Did You Hear? Jawa Bobber Bike Is Here!

Mahindra & Mahindra’s subsidiary Classic Legends has launched the much anticipated Jawa Perak bobber in the Indian market the price of ₹ 1.94 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Jawa Perak is launched exactly after one year where it was showcased at the brand’s launch in 2018.

The country’s most affordable Bobber borrows its name from the original 1946 Perak that was unveiled at Paris Motor Show in 1946 during World War 2.

The bike comes powered by a 334 cc single-cylinder, DOHC liquid-cooled BS6 compliant engine to meet the latest emission norms of India. It churns out around 30 bhp and 31 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a six-speed gearbox. The engine is based on already in use 293 cc motor from the Jawa and Jawa Forty Two. However, the engine is tuned with a bigger bore to churn out more power.

The new Jawa Perak has managed to keep the legendary bobber design alive with a single seat which floats to the tail light. Its low-set and wide handlebars with a teardrop fuel tank give it a nostalgic feel of the 1946 model. Rearview mirrors are also integrated with the handlebars of the bike. Its other features include halogen headlight, upside down analog speedometer coupled with digital odometer, handlebar end mirrors, bobbed fenders and chopped twin exhaust to give it a mean look.

Jawa’s latest offering comes with a massive wheelbase of 1485 mm, long forks and shell-shaped bullet headlamps. The matte black paint job on the bike gives it a distinct look that continues to the engine and spoked wheels. 18-inch tyre in the front and 17-inch tyre at the bike run the bike.

Telescopic suspension forks in the front and 7-step adjustable mono-shock unit in the rear wheel do a good job to absorb bumps and provide steady handling. The bike comes equipped with twin disc brakes (280 mm front and 240 mm rear) and a dual-channel ABS as standard to keep it stable during heavy braking. The longer swing arm than other Jawa bikes makes it more comfortable to ride for longer periods on highways.

Classic Legends will produce the Jawa Perak at the same Pithampur facility where other models of Jawa are already in production. Bookings of Jawa Perak are expected to open from January 2020 and deliveries will start from 2 April 2020. Buyers can visit the official website of Jawa to book the motorcycle.

Being the cheapest offering in the segment, Jawa Perak is expected to excite bike enthusiasts.
