KTM has launched the 2021 new edition of 125 Duke on Monday. This is the most affordable motorcycle in the bikemaker’s Indian line-up. The KTM 125 Duke's upgrades are inspired by the KTM 1290 Super Duke R. It gets a few cosmetic revisions and a bump in price. Features
The new design lines of KTM 125 Duke gets a cosmetic overhaul inspired by the 200 Duke that was refreshed early this year. Hence, the 2021 125 Duke is also underpinned by a new split-type trellis frame, much sharper body panels, and an LED DRL in its headlamp unit. For making it a better handler, this has also helped in accommodating a larger rider and pillion seat, enhancing the comfort. The size of the fuel tank has also increased from 10.5 liters to 13.5 liters.
Engine
The new KTM 125 Duke comes with a 125cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which is the same as it's the older sibling. It continues to produce 14.3bhp at 9,250rpm and 12Nm at 8,000rpm. The motor also comes paired with a six-speed gearbox, WP USD forks, and WP mono-shock at the rear. Meanwhile, a single disc at both ends take care of braking with a single-channel ABS setup.
Colour options
What set it apart from the 200 Duke aesthetically are the new color options which include Electronic Orange and Ceramic White.
Competition
The new KTM 125 Duke continues to contend against the Yamaha MT-15 which is priced much lesser at Rs 1.39 lakh. And in comparison to the KTM, the MT-15 provides features such as full-LED lighting for the headlamp, a fresh-looking black and white LCD, and dual-channel ABS. Moreover, it also gets a much more powerful 155cc engine.
Pricing
KTM has pegged the 2021 125 Duke at Rs 1.50 lakh (ex-showroom). This is at a premium of Rs 8,000 over the previous model’s 1.42 lakh price tag.
