Rebel 1100 cruiser motorcycle is packed with a powerful engine and a modern design language.
Japanese automaker, Honda has introduced its 2021 Rebel 1100 cruiser motorcycle for the global markets. The new model, 2021 Honda Rebel 1100 comes packed with a host of features and equipment, a powerful engine based on the Africa Twin and a design similar to its lower displacement siblings in the cruiser lineup. As for the highlights, it has an all-LED lighting setup, a host of electronic riding aids, and a digital instrument cluster. Look out it's features:
Talking about the design, the new Rebel 1100 will carry forward the same styling as the previous models with its Bobber like appearance, although it is bigger in terms of dimensions. It includes the Rebel 500 and the Rebel 300. The new range-topping Rebel 1100 features the same teardrop shaped fuel tank, trellis frame, single seat and rear fender. The motorcycle also features rounded LED headlamps, LED taillights and a single-pod digital instrument cluster. This bike provides a comfortable riding stationary as well, with forward-set footpegs, a raised handlebar and a seat height which is set at 698mm.
The biggest talking point of this two-wheeler is it's engine. The 1084cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine is unit based on Honda's flagship Africa Twin adventure-tourer offering. This engine, however, the company has retuned the engine to better match the cruiser characteristics. The company has also used different camshaft profiles and ignition timings for each of it's two cylinders that produces slightly more power below 4000 rpm, and the other above 4000 rpm and giving the motorcycle a wide torque band, along with plenty of grunts available at the lower end to enable that typical cruiser-like relaxed riding experience. The engine is about to produce around 100bhp.
The Rebel 1100 will come along with either a six-speed manual or a DCT automatic transmission unit (borrowed from the Africa Twin). Moreover, the DCT automatic equipped cruiser will be 10kg heavier than the standard model, which tips the scale at 220kg. The buyers can choose to ride the DCT model in full-automatic mode or shift gears using buttons on the handlebar.
The new model has a tubular steel frame underneath the familiar bodywork. Front suspension is a 43mm cartridge fork and gas-charged dual Showa shocks at the rear, both adjustable for preload. The bike rides on 18-inch wheels at the front and a 16-inch wheel at the rear, severally. The wheelbase, for now, at 1,520mm is longer than the Rebel 500's and it gets a beefier swingarm as well.
The front brake uses a single monoblock four-piston radially mounted caliper on a 330mm disc, and the rear brake uses a single caliper on a 256mm disc; both come with ABS standard. Despite the 27.5-inch seat height, the Rebel boasts an impressive lean angle of 35 degrees, regarding 5 degrees further than the H-D Low Rider S.
The braking of 2021 Honda Rebel 1100 is handled by 330mm disc up front and a 256mm disc at the rear, along with dual-channel ABS as standard, wheelie control, Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), cruise control, and throttle-by-wire. It also gets four selectable riding modes, Standard, Rain, Sport, and a user configurable mode. Suspension duties on the cruiser are handled by 43mm inverted telescopic forks on the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear end. It further rides on 18-inch and 16-inch wheels at the front and rear, respectively.
Colours, accessories and availability
Honda has launched the 2021 Rebel 1100 in two colours- Metallic Black and Bordeaux Red. The list of accessories, which includes a fairing, pillion seat, saddlebags and more. The tow-wheeler packs a digital instrument console, an all-LED setup for lighting, and rides on blacked-out alloy wheels.
There is no official word on the company launching the Rebel 1100 to the Indian markets anytime soon. If the Honda Rebel 1100 does enter the Indian market, it will rival Indian Motorcycle range and will retail via the brand's BigWing premium dealership network.
