Volvo Car India has introduced the updated version, all-new sedan S60 is set to be launched in India. The Swedish carmaker confirmed that deliveries will commence from March 2021. The company has started accepting pre-bookings from January 2021 for the third-gen sedan which will be brought to the country as a Completely Built Unit (CBU).

However, Volvo v60 launch in India has seen a massive delay, considering the automaker had planned to launch the model back in the second half of previous year, 2019.  The latest iteration of the luxury sedan is based on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform which as per the company emphasizes on luxury, comfort and safety.

Exterior

On the exterior, Volvo S60 gets a beautiful styling with the Swedish brand’s latest  language with minimalistic approach. At front, it receives a wide chrome-finished grille with vertical slats adorned by the company’s logo at centre. It sports a two-part front grille, complemented by Volvo's signature ‘Thor hammer’ LED headlamps. It also has sculpted bonnet and a trapezoidal air dam.

On exterior sides, the main highlights are set of 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and blacked-out B-pillars. At back, it gets attractive C-shaped LED taillights. Its exterior styling reminds us of the bigger S90 which shares many design cues with its smaller sibling. Other notable design highlights includes raked windshield, rear bumper, revised muscular and a large greenhouse. As a result of these changes, the new upcoming model looks like a scaled-down version of Volvo's S90 with some bold character lines which lend separate identity to S60.

Interior

On the interior front, seeing as the Volvo S60 will come in the T4-Inscription trim level, the luxury sedan will come equipped with a 9.0-inch vertically mounted Sensus touchscreen infotainment system  with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other  features that come from the equipment includes, multifunctional steering wheel, four-zone automatic climate control, a head-up display, rear parking camera, massaging front seats, an air purifier, wireless charging, ambient interior designing, 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, and a Harmon Kardon audio system.

Safety

Speaking of safety, this model earned  5-star safety rating at Euro NCAP, as usual for almost all company's products. The safety equipment on offer includes seven airbags and radar-based safety assist features including run-off mitigation, Steering Support, driver alert control, speed alert oncoming lane mitigation, pilot assist, lane keeping aid, adaptive cruise control and many more. The 2021 S60 shares its safety technology with the flagship S90 and XC60, making it one of the safest cars in its segment.

Engine

In terms of engine, the upcoming S60 is offered with 2.0-litre, turbocharged, inline four-cylinder petrol engine which produces 187 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties will be carried out by an 8-speed automatic unit that sends power to the front wheels. It is also offered with three drive modes- Comfort, Eco and Dynamic. Globally, the car gets a more powerful variant of it, 2.0-litre petrol unit with the option of a hybrid powertrain which the Indian market will sadly miss out on.

Competition

The S60 will go against the likes of Mercedes Benz C-Class, Jaguar XE, BMW 3 Series and upcoming Audi A4 facelift.
