Turn off ignition while waiting at red light

Delhi Government has announced that it will launch the campaign "Red Light On Gaadi Off " from October 28 to curb air pollution. This step was taken after the increase in pollution in Delhi after Diwali.

This was first launched in 2020 to reduce vehicular pollution. The Phase-I of this drive will start from October 28 and will continue till November 28.

Drivers are supposed to switch off the ignition while waiting at red light. Environment minister of Delhi, Gopal Rai said that they are strictly implementing all the directions of the Air Quality Management.

Rai also said that the campaign will be roped in civil defence volunteers who will keep an eye on commuters to turn off their vehicles. 2,500 volunteers will be deployed in different part of cities. 10 volunteers will be available at each signal in two shifts.

The first shift will be from 8 am to 2 pm to 2 pm to 8 pm.
