Watch: Traffic Cop's car gets swallowed by road

A car got stuck in Delhi's Dwarka’s Sector 18 after a road caved in due to incessant rain. The car was later pulled out from the 5-6 feet deep ditch with the help of a hydro crane with no injuries reported, Delhi Police said. Constable who was present in the car at the time of the accident managed to escape unhurt.

Officials said, the constable received minor injuries, who was driving his i20 car, fell into the ditch, was protected by locals and passersby.

This led to waterlogging and traffic snarls on several road stretches like Palam, Kirari, Ring Road, Pragati Maidan, and Rohtak road. “Waterlogging reported at Pulpehladpur under railway bridge. Traffic is headed from Mehrauli-Badarpur (MB) road to Mathura road,” the Delhi Traffic Police shared this information by tweet.

The constable told the police that the doors of his vehicle got jammed because of the effect of the fall and he was pulled out by the people after removing the rear windscreen of the car. He didn't get any serious injury, police said.

One such incident took place in June, a parked car in Ghatkopar residential society, Mumbai, fell into sealed well. The incident, much akin to the Delhi incident, was recorded and became viral on social media. The video shot shows the parking area completely caving in and as a result, swallowing the Hyundai's Venue.
