Toyota Urban Cruiser Launched at ₹8.4 lakh

Toyota has launched the re-hashed version of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza in the form of Urban Cruiser. Does it look and feel any different?

Toyota has launched Urban Cruiser in India. With this, Toyota has become the latest carmaker to enter the competitive sub-four metre SUV segment in India. The Urban Cruiser is essentially Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza but sports a handful of design changes to give it a distinctive look.

However, Urban Cruiser gets the same interior layout as Vitara Brezza and even the feature list on both the vehicles is same. But the main difference between Urban Cruiser and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is that the former is available with a warranty period of 3 years or 1 lakh km.

Design

Toyota Urban Cruiser sports a two-slat wedge cut grille along with dual-chamber LED projector headlamps. The size and shape of the headlight cluster is identical to Vitara Brezza. It also has a mildly redesigned bumper with a different shape for fog lamps' housing and a redone faux skid plate on rear bumper. Urban Cruiser will also offer a host of monotone and dual-tone paint scheme.

Interiors of Urban Cruiser get a dual-tone dark brown colour theme. It is also equipped with a seven-inch Smart Playcast touchscreen system that also supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering mounted controls, semi-digital instrument console, automatic LED headlamps with DRLs, automatic climate control system, rain-sensing wipers, electrochromic rear-view mirror, cruise control, keyless entry, and push-button start/stop.

Engine

Toyota Urban Cruiser will come powered with Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza's 1.5-litre petrol engine. It will generate 103 bhp and 138 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be available with the choice of five-speed manual gearbox and four-speed torque converter automatic transmission. Its automatic variants will also offer Maruti's Smart Hybrid technology that comes powered with dual lithium-ion battery system to enhance its fuel efficiency.

Price in India

Toyota Urban Cruiser's manual transmission spec will start from ₹8.4 lakh to ₹9.8 lakh and its automatic models' prices will range between ₹9.8 lakh and ₹11.13 lakh.

Safety features

The Urban Cruiser will be equipped with same safety features as Brezza. It will offer dual front airbags, reverse parking sensors, ABS, EBD, speed alert system, reverse parking camera, and hill hold system for automatic variants.

Toyota has announced that Urban Cruiser's deliveries in India will start from mid-October. Customers who book the SUV before mid-October will get Toyota's 'Respect Package' that offers 'no-cost periodic maintenance' for up to 2 years or 20,000 km.
