Things you need to know about the new Datsun-Redi Go

Datsun has launched 2020 Redi-Go. The car made its global debut last month and bookings are now open at the Nissan-Datsun dealerships across the nation. Before you consider exploring it for a test drive, here are a few things that you need to know.

New Datsun Redi-Go is the second product that has the platform of Renault Nissan Alliance wherein both the companies are aiming to bring the customer a better driving experience with some of the smart car options. The first product was designed as per the architecture given on the Renault Kwid.

Engine

It comes with a 799cc that churns out the maximum power of 53bhp at 5678rpm and 72Nm of torque at 4386rpm. Its 0.8-litre mill is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Datsun has claimed to deliver a mileage of 20.71kmpl.

Redi-Go is also available with a BS6-compliant 1.0-litre petrol engine. It churns out 68hp and 91Nm of maximum torque. It comes mated with both 5-speed manual and 5-speed automatic transmissions. The claimed mileage of Redi-Go 1.0 MT is around 21.7kmpl and 22kmpl for AMT variant.

You may find the engine and the platform of the car quite similar to that of the Renault Kwid but what keeps it different from the rest is its weight which is nearly 25 kg lighter. This would help in having a better torque to weight ratio and acceleration. Renault Kwid car touches the 100kmph mark from zero in around 16 seconds, but Redi-Go can do 100kmph in just 15 seconds.

Best-In-Class Braking Performance

It is not just the features but also the design and braking are the best in class. The Redi GO has the ability to halt from 100kmph in 32.2 meters.

Despite being one of the shortest cars in the category, it offers ample space for the rear occupants. It also offers the 542mm of extra space for a better knee room.

Exterior

Exteriors of Redi-Go have got a major update. It now comes with L-shaped Daytime Running Lights (DRL), LED fog lamps, sleek headlamps with silver accents, LED tail-lamps, updated door trim with fabric, and 14-inch wheels with a dual-tone wheel cover. It will also sport body-coloured door handles and ORVMs.

Interiors

The cabin of Redi-Go is also ramped up with new features. Its centre-console is now equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For added safety, it now offers a new reverse parking camera with a projection guide. Its instrument panel is now powered by a drive computer that gives all relevant info including trip, gear position, and fuel economy, among others.
