Tata Tigor Review

Tata Tigor offers spacious interiors, modern styling, and multiple gearbox options. Let us find out what it has on offer.

The new Tigor presents a confident, executive-oriented and understated design that comes from the IMPACT 2.0 Design language. Its exteriors feature a confident ,bold and sharp look , whereas the interiors exude luxury and comfort.

Tata Tigor is a new stylish sub-four-meter compact sedan which belongs to a level below the other compact sedan models. Tigor was launched with two variants - Petrol-manual and petrol-AMT versions. It has received 4 stars on adult occupant protection from Global NCAP.

The Tata Tigor USP is its unique fastback-like profile which is done neatly inside as well. The cabin is eloquently built and has features like the knitted roof lining and textured finish on the dashboard which further accentuates its beauty. It has enough space for four adults to sit comfortably. Its boot size is 419-litre.

Exterior

The Tata Tigor is a compact sedan design of the Tata Tiago hatchback. The front end appears similar in design; what stands out in Tigor is its front grille with hexagonal design elements. It also has a twin barrel headlamp with halogen high beams and projector low beams.

Tigor in its petrol version gets  a 15-inch, black and diamond cut, two tone wheels that sync very well with the cars design, but in case of diesel version, the car gets a set of smaller 14 inches.

What stands out in this car is the rear. Tata Motors has nailed not only the sedan-like styling of the roofline but also the boot integration. Tigor has a very well-balanced sub 4-meter sedan in India. It has a high mounted roof spoiler which includes a built-in tail lamp that glows end to end .The rear bumper has a large chunk of plastic that provides it a sportier edge.

Interior

Overall, the dashboard looks the same as the Tiago. But the Tigor gets a lot of additional features. The Tigor has a touchscreen infotainment system with MirrorLink, which allows you to pair your phone and get navigation updates and media updates on the screen. It has an audio system with 4 speakers and 4 tweeters.

The higher variants of this car have features like climate control. The dashboard has a solid feel to it and just like the Tiago it also has a color-coded AC vent. The instrument cluster is readable and has a silver painted surrounding which gives it a distinctive look.

The rear seat comfort is an essential feature which makes the Tigor a family car. The car has 50mm more wheelbase which provides more space in the rear for passengers. There is enough legroom at the rear for the passengers and the seat is just wide enough to fit three passengers.

The rear bench seats of this car have a flip down hand rest along with two cup holders .It’s rear seat head rests are non-adjustable but have a high foam density to make them supportive and comfortable.

Safety Feature

Tata Tigor has dual front airbags which prevent the riders from striking the hard surfaces during an impact. The safety is further enhanced by stability control which provides directional safety during an accident. The sensors and rear camera alert the driver in case of any hurdle while reversing the car.

Engine Options

Both diesel and petrol variants of Tata Tigor have three-cylinder. The petrol variant has a 1.2-liter motor making 84 bhp and 114 Nm of peak torque.

The turbocharged 1.05-liter diesel is less powerful and makes only 69 bhp but provides more torque at 140 Nm.

The Tigor petrol engine is a little laid back and appears underpowered on the road. When revved to its red line at about 6000 rpm, the NVH levels are higher than expected, which is an issue in a subcompact sedan.

The diesel has 69 bhp power but it makes a torque at 140 Nm. The diesel turbo engine is more responsive than the petrol.

Pricing

The prices for The Tigor varies from Rs 4.70-7.09 lakh and is quite a steal for the feature it offers as compared to other cars in the same range.
