As many as 18 labourers, who were sleeping on the roadside were killed due to the impact of the accident. Several other labourers have been reported injured.
At least 18 people were killed and several injured after a bus was hit by a speeding truck in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki. The bus was full of labourers, police said. The injured were immediately rushed to the nearby hospital.
According to police, the accident was reported on National Highway 28, where a double-decker bus was stationed at a dhaba near Ram Sanehi Ghat police station after its axle broke down.
Suddenly, a speeding truck came and stabbed into the bus, killing 18 people on the spot, who were standing near the bus at the roadside, because of the accident. The team of police reached at the accident spot and rescued all who were stuck in the bus.
Government condolences
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of lives in the Barabanki accident. He also announced financial assistance of ₹2 lakh each from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 each to the injured.

The chief minister also expressed condolences and directed to provide best and free medical care to the injured and related help to injury.
