Union Minister is planning to increase the speed limits on national highways and expressways in Bengaluru. This comes after the accident of Cyrus Mistry when the road safety issues including the conditions of roads and highways.
As of now, the maximum speed is 100 kmph on national highways and 120 kmph on expressways for cars. Mumbai-Pune expressway is the only one who has the maximum speed limit set at 100 kmph, however it is capable of handling 120 kmph.
As per Gadkari, the speed limit on highways should be at least 100 kmph on four-lane roads, whereas for two-lane roads, it should be 75-80 kmph.
