Along with Ola Electric Scooter, another electric scooter is gearing up to knock on the market.
Bengaluru-based electric vehicle startup, Simple Energy is also preparing to launch its first electric scooter. In the first phase, it will be launched in 13 states across the country. The locations for experience centers in cities of the select states have been already finalized by the company.
The electric scooter will be launched in Bangalore on August 15 and booking will also commence on the same day. It will launch on August 15 at an event in Bengaluru. Bookings for the vehicle will start on the launch day, i.e 15 August.
The list of the states includes Delhi, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat and Punjab.
The company has also said that it plans to invest Rs 350 crore in the coming 2 years, to expand business throughout the country.
However, when the annual production capacity at its plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu reached 10 lakhs, the company decided to spread the business in this phase. Earlier, it was planned to be launched in only three cities Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai. Suhas Rajkumar, the company's CEO claimed, they have been receiving applications for booking from many cities around the country. Due to this, the company will try to fulfill their needs and decided to start its first phase vigorously.
It received a 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery, which will provide a range of 240 km on Eco mode on single charge. It has already been reported that its battery is detached from the scooter thus making it easier to charge. It can accelerate from 0 to 50 kilometers, in just 3.5 seconds. The maximum speed is 100 km per hour.
The e-scooter is expected to fall between ₹1.10 lakh and ₹1.20 lakh.
