Private EV charging points at home for Delhi residents

Delhi is one of the fastest EV adapting cities in the country and the government of national capital has recently announced that it has installed the first private electric vehicle charging point under its only-window facility.

A speaker revealed that the installation of first private charging point was done in South Delhi's resident home at DDA flats under BSES discom BSES Rajdhani Power Limited's (BRPL) area. Whereas, the second one was installed in East Delhi.

The initiative is taken by Aam Aadmi Party to expand the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles at private and semi-public places such as group housing societies, hospitals, malls and theatres in the city.

The Transport of Delhi has a total of twelve vendors by which the consumers can install the charging points at their home or desired locations. It was also stated that the installation will take around 7 days after the time of application is submitted by the customers and they can schedule the installation as per their convenience.

Additionally, the government is offering a one-time subsidy for first 30,000 charging points in the city of Rs 6,000 to promote and expand the private charging network.

Buyers who wish to have these private chargers installed at their places can go through the portal as Capex or the subscription model. Customers under the Capex model have to make the full payment to avail the facilities. Whereas, customers who fall into the category of subscription model, the customer can pay the full amount in equal monthly instalments distributed in three years.
