Prices of Maruti Suzuki cars increased by up to Rs 34,000

Maruti Suzuki has increased the prices of its cars citing various economic reasons. Find out how much more it will now cost to buy a Maruti.

India's leading car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) has increased the prices of its vehicle lineup by up to Rs 34,000 ex-showroom in Delhi, according to various news reports. The increased prices will be effective from 18 January 2020.

The auto major cited various factors including steep hike in steel and raw material costs, rise in input costs, and more for the price hike. MSIL has increased the price of Maruti Suzuki Alto by up to Rs 9,000 and Espresso by up to Rs 7,000. Premium hatchback Baleno will now cost you Rs 19,400 more.

One of the most popular small cars, Wagon-R's price has also been increased by up to Rs 18,200. Celerio's price is increased by up to Rs 14,400 and compact SUV Brezza will now cost you Rs 10,000 more.

Popular Maruti Suzuki Swift will now get expensive by up to Rs 30,000 and MPV Ertiga will cost you more by up to Rs 34,000.

According to experts, this yearly price hike is not likely the impact the sales of Maruti Suzuki amid pandemic.
