The newly inaugurated main tunnel of the Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor Project was open for traffic on Monday. For the initial days, it will open from 8 am to 8 pm on a trial basis.
During this phase, traffic police and PWD officials will observe the movement of vehicles via tunnel to make sure that the traffic moves smoothly.
It is a 1.3-km long tunnel and five underpasses have been built over the past 4 years. It will allow passengers to travel to India Gate and other central areas to East Delhi, Noida, and Ghaziabad to ditch traffic snarls.
It has been built at a cost of 920 crores and is fully funded by Central Government.
