Ola Electric to launch Autonomous car by 2024

Co-Founder and CEO of Ola Electric, Bhavish Aggarwal has revealed that they will be launching the company's first autonomous car by 2024. He also said that the company has already begun testing an autonomous vehicle for the past six months. Moreover, the car will be launched with developed autonomous technology.

The company is aiming to offer the electric vehicle for around ₹ 10 lakh so that is affordable for most people. The most affordable electric car is the Tigor EV which starts at ₹ 12.24 lakhs (ex-showroom) and goes to ₹ 13.39 lakhs (ex-showroom).

This announcement comes at a time when other tw0-wheeler manufacturers facing issues of heat from buyers and incidents of catching fire increased. Recently, the company has had the same issue when Ola scooter was involved in a massive fire due to the shortage of semiconductors. In fact, they also recalled over 1400 units of the Ola S1 Pro scooters to check for fire hazards. Therefore, the company is shifting towards autonomous cars, before solving the problems of electric scooters.

They also showcased an electric cart as a demo vehicle, featuring autonomous technology that we will also get on the upcoming four-wheeler. Its top speed was 20 kmph and it was mated with two LiDAR or Light Detection and Ranging cameras. Also, there was a GPS and a video camera. The cart would stop automatically when it detected a person in front of it and find other options autonomously.

The company also claimed that the autonomous cart will be exported to other countries from India and will be used in hospitals, offices, malls, and public places.
