No toll tax within 60 km

Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways announced the removal of toll plazas which are within 60 kilometers of each other on national highways within the next 3 months.

He also said that it is unethical for toll plazas to operate within a distance of 60 km. For those booths which are still operating, he ordered for a gradual removal of such tolls. He also claimed that the toll collection through these booths is illegal and wrong. Due to this, the common people should not suffer just because the government is earning revenue from these illegal toll booths.

This step will ease the overall process of seamless driving on National Highways. The removal of such booths means that people will now have to make fewer stops for toll payments and comes with an added benefit of paying a lesser amount for toll tax.

Gadkari also claimed that the local residents near toll plazas will be provided with free passes by the government based on their Aadhar card address for a smooth journey.
