Mumbai traffic police cop sits on the car bonnet to stop the defaulter

A Mumbai traffic police constable was taken for a ride on the bonnet of a car in an attempt to stop the car driver who had violated a traffic rule. Instead of stopping, the driver drove the car with the traffic cop sitting on the bonnet for one kilometre.

The incident occurred in Andheri on Thursday, when the officer Vijay Singh Gurav tried to stop the vehicle going in the wrong direction. An FIR had been registered against the unidentified car driver at DN Nagar police station.

As per the complaint filed by the traffic cop, the driver of the car got into an argument with him on being stopped and demanded to be let go as he was from press. Not willing to let him away, the cop jumped and sat on the car's bonnet. While, the constable was sitting on bonnet, the driver accelerated the car for one kilometre. Finally, he was thrown off the car.

A case has been registered against the car driver under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), section 353 and 279. Further investigation is underway.
