MG Hector Plus To Launch In July 2020

MG Hector has managed to create a lot of buzz post its launch in the Indian car market. One of the larges 5-seat SUVs in India has managed to sell over 15,000 units in the first 6 months of its launch. Riding on its increasing popularity, the Chinese automaker is now all set to launch its three-row variant that was earlier showcased in Auto Expo 2020.

The Hector Plus will be launched anytime soon in the month of July. The news is confirmed by MG Support’s Twitter handle in India.

Design and Features

MG Hector Plus was showcased in the 2020 Auto Expo as a 6-seater SUV. It had 2 captain chairs in the middle row and two seats in the third row. The seats are tastefully done with premium looking tan leather upholstery. MG has also done minor cosmetic changes from the outside.

Hector Plus will sport a redesigned grille and headlamp with bigger LED daytime running lights. The revised bumper will no longer be connected to the tail lamps. The MG Hector Plus looks more premium and sharper than the older 5-seater trim.

However, there are no changes in the features list. The plus model will come equipped with same set of features as present in the standard MG Hector. Some of the worth noting features include connected car technology with 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment, 360-degree surround camera, panoramic sunroof, and up to 6 airbags for added safety. Keeping the comfort of third-row passengers in mind, Hector Plus’s third will also get AC vents and USB mobile charging points.

Engine

Hector Plus will be powered with the same BS6 engines as present in the 5-seater MG Hector. The 1.5-litre petrol turbo engine generates decent 143PS and 250 Nm of torque. It is also mated to a solid 48V mild-hybrid system to generate extra power. The manual option is mated to a 6-speed gearbox and the automatic option comes with a 6-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Its 2-litre diesel engine generates 170PS/350Nm and is mated to a 6-speed manual. Diesel engine doesn’t have an automatic option.

Price

MG Hector Plus is expected to be priced at a premium of around 1,00,000 INR over the usual 5-seater model. The 5-seater model costs between 12.74 lakh and Rs 17.73 lakh.

MG is also planning to launch the 7-seater version of the Hector in the latter part of the year. The Hector Plus is expected to give tough competition to the likes of Innova Crysta and Tata’s Harrier-based 7-seater SUV Gravitas.
