German luxury automaker, the Mercedes-Benz has launched the E-Class facelift in India with costs ranging from Rs 63.60 lakh (ex-showroom). The sedan is now available in five variants with three engine options– E 200, E 220d, and the E 350d. The company has introduced an India specific sporty AMG exterior line in the E 350d, in order to expand the options for potential buyers.

Also, the company has preponed the launch of the new E-Class citing a prosperous run out of the outgoing model much ahead of the company plans and has also received an overwhelming interest for the new updated model.

Exterior

On the outside, the E-Class Facelift features an  new LED headlamps and front bumper, along with a new wider three-slat chrome grille and chrome trim for the fog lamp inserts. It also gets new alloy wheel designs. The rear section has a horizontal tail-lamps, new bumper design and slim, similar to those of the new S-Class. The new E-Class E 350d with the new AMG-line variant gets a unique diamond front grille, a special beige-tropez blue interior upholstery, sportier 18-inch alloy wheels, and AMG design front and rear bumpers.

In terms of dimensions, it now measures 5,075mm in length and has a wheelbase of 3,079mm. The updated E-Class gets two new color options- Selenite Grey and Designo Hyacinth Red. In addition to standard colour options such as Polar White, High-Tech Silver, Obsidian Black and Mojave Silver.

Interior

On the inside, an updated rear touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity will be present with two 12.3-inch screens for instrument cluster too. This will provide chauffeur package to meet individuals need. The sedan also gets a new steering wheel with capacitive touch screen controls. Furthermore, two USB ports also have been added at the back.

The other interior feature includes wireless charger at the rear, power close function for doors, reverse camera, Park Pilot (Active Park Assistance), panoramic sunroof along with Burmester surround system with 590W output, reclining rear seats, full leather upholstery, air suspension, three-zone automatic control, and newly designed AC console with storage.

Safety

The safety feature list includes active bonnet for pedestrian protection, emergency call with Mercedes me connect, pre safe, traction control, seven airbags including a knee airbag, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, ABS with EBD and brake assist, front and rear parking sensors, ESP, tyre pressure monitoring system, and a 360-degree parking camera.

Engine

The 2021 E-Class is available with one petrol and two diesel engine option across three trims: Expression, Exclusive and AMG Line. The E200 variant gets a 1,991cc four-cylinder, petrol engine that generates 194bhp between 5,500-6100rpm and 320Nm of torque between 1650-4000rpm.

The E 200d includes a 3.0-litre, straight-six diesel, 1950cc four-cylinder, diesel engine that generates 192bhp at 3,800rpm and 400 Nm of torque between 1600-2800rpm.

The E 350 variant gets a 2,925cc six-cylinder diesel engine which generates 282bhp between 3,400-4,600rpm and 600Nm of torque between 1200-3200rpm. It is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in 6.1 sec an has a top speed rate of 250 kmph.
