Maruti Suzuki is functioning on a more premium version of WagonR that may be known as XL5. It is more advanced version of the WagonR, so it will be sold through the Nexa outlet, making it the cheapest car to be retailed. The car has been spotted on the roads various times. However, the new version reveal some details which you need to know:
Exterior
From exterior, it is observed that the XL5 use the same conventional same door handles and has a tall boy design as seen on the WagonR. At the front, we get new shaped LED headlamps which is placed below while the turn indicator is placed above, redesigned bumpers, and different badging. We are also expecting to get a projector setup instead of regular halogen units. There is a large air dam that's flanked by a group of fog lamps.
It gets the set of black alloy wheels which seem to be the new style and don't look like the standard multi-spoke black alloys that come with NEXA products. At the back, there are high mounted stop lamp, vertical LED tail lamps, and rear wiper. the The upcoming XL5 does look a lot like the WagonR from the rear. The car will also get usable roof tails. The Nexa will also get blue color also which is exclusive to Nexa products.
Interior
Speaking of the interior, there is not much information available about it, but we expect that the company will be using best quality plastics and materials for the XL5. The upcoming model will get the latest generation of Maruti Suzuki’s SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The interior of the car will be all black and we might see leather upholstery on Alfa variant of the car. There will be some extra features such as multi-function steering wheel, automatic climate control, power windows for all four windows, rear parking sensors, keyless entry, push-button to start/stop, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, and many more.
Engine
The car will come with the 1.2-litre petrol engine which come mated to a manual and AMT gearbox. The engine produces max power of 83 PS and 113Nm of peak torque. It'll be provided with a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed AMT. The 1.0-litre engine isn't expected to be offered with the XL5 as, it is little underpowered for a car that is sold by a premium offering like Nexa. The 1.0-litre petrol engine produces 68 PS of max power and 90 Nm of peak torque.
Price
Maruti Suzuki's XL5 might be one of the first launches from the automaker in 2021 as it is being seen for quite some time and was expected to be showcased, but that didn't happen. It is expected to charge premium which ranges around Rs. 70,000. Currently, the WagonR begins from Rs. 4.45 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
