Maruti Suzuki Eeco BS6 Review

Maruti Suzuki Eeco is one of India's most affordable MPVs. It is also used as an ambulance or a cargo vehicle. Let us find out what the BS6 model has to offer.

The elegant version of Omni was designed and launched by Maruti Suzuki as Eeco. The Eeco is a cozy family car. It comes in 3 versions: standard 5-seater. AC 5-seater and standard 7-seater. For Indians, Maruti Suzuki Eeco isn't a new car. The same car with Versa's name used to be sold by Maruti before.

It was named Eeco later and recently it has got a BS6 update. In addition, Maruti Suzuki Eeco replaces the old Maruti Omni as the company's most affordable offering. In 5-seater and 7-seater versions, Maruti Suzuki Eeco is offered. Maruti also sells Eeco commercial versions and ambulances. Let's see in this review what Maruti Suzuki Eeco offers in 2020.

We will see the details related to interior, exterior as well as available engine options.

Exterior

Maruti Suzuki Eeco has a highly classic design and has not changed since the beginning of its Indian career. The Eeco measures 3675mm in length, 1475mm in width, and 1825mm in height when discussing dimensions and provides a wheelbase of 2350mm. As is the case with every other van in this segment, the Eeco design is very basic. For easy entry and exit, we get sliding doors at the rear. The Eeco has missed out on external elements like wheel caps, body-colored bumpers, and fog lights.

The Eeco is equipped with a bold design and stylish body graphics. It has clear headlights and tail lights as well. The Eeco has slide-to-open gates on its side. The back bumper looks like Omni's and the back is a simple design.

Interior

The interior is covered by the same conventional parts. We have a flat dashboard design in Eeco and the bottom part is left vacant. The Omni and Eeco's thermal flow was never good because the engine was installed underneath the seats at the front. The Eeco is provided with air-conditioning, driver airbag, ABS and seatbelt reminders, parking sensors in the rear, and speed sensing alarm. Since Eeco is targeted at business, we don't get fantastic items like touchscreen and other comforts.

The AC variant with 5 seats is equipped with a new black accessory, an integrated headboard for drivers and passengers, an easily read instrument cluster, spacious interiors, flexible and practical sitting rooms, and space. Air-conditioning is provided. In all three rows, it has a lot of leg/shoulder/headroom. It's also a big leg area. However, as Omni's, the front seats are not as comfortable.

Engine

The 1.2-liter G12B engine, which churns out 72 bhp in the petrol variation and 98 Nm of torque, is available with Maruti Suzuki Eeco. The power is reduced to 61.6bhp and 85 Nm torque if you opt for the CNG version.

Both the petrol- and CNG-engines are connected to a manual 5-speed transmission and no automatic gearbox is available. The Eeco is 16.11 km/l in petrol and 20.88 km/kg in CNG when it comes to fuel savings.

Safety

The Eeco is provided with driver airbags, ABS, seat belt reminders, parking sensors, and speed sensing alarm as the safety devices. In an overall sense, the car is equipped with sufficient safety features for a car at this budget.

The EMS includes a high-pressure injection system, knock sensors, as well as low-friction pistons to improve the driving experience. The EMS is also supplied by the engine management system. Diagonal Shift Assistance (DSA) is also available for an improved driving experience. With forward strut suspension and three-link rear suspension, the ride quality is also improved.

Price

When it comes to the pricing for the Maruti Suzuki Eeco, it begins with the 5 seat variant of Rs 3.80 lakh and the 5 Seater AC car plus CNG of Rs 4.95 lakh. The 7-seater STD variant is available at Rs 4.10 lakh, with all prices indicated as the ex-showroom prices. Maruti Suzuki Eeco has no direct rivals.
