Mahindra XUV700 production expected to begin in July

Mahindra XUV700 is expected to hit the roads in the second quarter of 2021. Check out what you can expect from the brand new SUV.

Manufacturing of Mahindra XUV700 is likely to begin shortly, maybe by the end of July. This schedule exactly corresponds to Mahindra's intentions to introduce the XUV700 in Q2 FY21, possibly before August. The XUV700 is the spiritual successor of the previous XUV500, although it is planned to return as a two-row SUV.

The XUV700 will be based on the new W601 monocoque platform. While we still have to look at the SUV, we know that the XUV700 will have a few more features. The most important of these is the Mercedes-inspired double-screen setup, which includes the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment system.

Additionally, connected car technology, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, a driver seat, and level 1 stand-alone technology with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are expected.  As with the MG Gloster, automated emergency braking and auto cruise control might be provided by the XUV700 as part of the ADAS.

The XUV700's 150PS 2.0-liter turbo petrol and 130PS 2.2-liter diesel engines are used under the hood but have greater power output. Both engines will likely be offered with manual and automated six-speed transmissions and an all-wheel drivetrain option.

We expect the Rs 15 lakh XUV700 to be priced (ex-showroom). It will compete against Tata Safari, Hyundai Hector Plus, and Hyundai Alcazar.

XUV700 will have a new design

Mahindra will offer the XUV700 a whole new design, yet it still resembles the old XUV500. The proportions, distinct shoulder line, and overall silhouette of the XUV700 will reflect these roots the best.

A new and more upright grille, new C-shaped headlights with unique LED daytime running lights, new alloy wheels, new taillights, and restyled bonnet, bumpers, and tailgate are among the updated design elements. Another notable change is the door handles, which will have flush-mounted levers for a more modern look.
