Hyundai Venue Review

Hyundai Venue is one of the best options in the budget compact SUV segment. It offers good style, connected tech, and a host of creature comfort features.

The latest subcompact crossover from Hyundai, the Venue, has a small boxy form, cute styling, and a budget-conscious price tag. Hyundai Venue aims at young buyers who need some practicality for the city drive. It offers an attractive list of standard driver help features. As an option, the Venue slips into the smallest and most affordable Hyundai vehicle in its range.

Exterior

Hyundai has been a leader in car design over the last few years. The 2020 Hyundai Venue showcases the gutsy, new design language of Hyundai with its chunky body and small frames. We believe this is one of the best-looking offerings with regards to sub-compact crossover SUVs. The front end is unmistakably in line with its bigger siblings, with its cascading grille and slithers of the headlight.

The rear end of the car is completed with squared backlights and looks adorable. Base models come with steel wheels of 15 inches and headlights with projector beam, while models SEL are made with aluminum alloy. The top Denim version is rolling on a series of 17-inch wheels which nicely fill the arches with LED light. Models from SEL and Denim also add a set of roof railings, and an optional sunroof is available for the SEL.

You can see that the Venue is Hyundai's smallest SUV. It just looks small and, we believe, it adds to its cute appeal. The venue rolls on a 99.2-inch steel bottom and has a weight of just 159.1 pounds. Space is 69.7 inches wide without wing mirrors – the ideal size for squeezing into and outside tight car parks and urban traffic – and 61.6 inches in height. Combined with a ride height of 69 inches, this short wheelbase allows you to drive on potholes without worries. Limited in size the Venue has a weight of 2,557 lbs for the manual variant and 2,612 and 2,738 lbs for automated versions, which not only aids it in better running but at the same time reduces brakes and fuel consumption.

Interior

The Doors open at a broad angle, and a little high riding height makes it difficult for the rear end to arrive at your seat. Once inside it feels sufficiently spacious to fit five adults easily. With regard to the general layout and design of things, it can be clearly seen that the interior style of the Hyundai Venue has been taken from her older siblings. The dashboard is simple and contains all essential controls and buttons easily accessible to drivers and front passengers.

A surprisingly spacious cabin is there for this small car. There is 41.3 inches of legroom up on the front and 34.3 inches for rear passengers.  Hyundai's infotainment systems are one of its consistent strengths. There is no exception to this eight-inch touchscreen system in the Venue. It is very convenient and includes AM/FM/HD radio, Bluetooth connectivity, satellite radio, and a four-speaker sound system in basic model spec. Most of all, Apple Car-Play and Android Auto are supplied as standard. The voice recognition, as well as double USB charging, navigation, and a six-speaker sound system, are also available in the SEL and Denim versions, adding to the overall cost.

Engine Options

The all-new Hyundai Venue comes with three different engine options. The first one is a 1.2 litre petrol engine that produces a power of 82 bhp and a torque output of 115 Nm. The second option is a 1.0 litre turbo petrol engine, having a power output of 118 bhp and torque of 172 Nm. This engine is a three-cylinder engine and operates on direct-injection technology.

The third option and most preferred one is 1.4 litre four-cylinder diesel engine. It produces a power of 89 bhp and torque of 220 Nm. The gearboxes also come in different variations. The 1.2 litre petrol engine comes with a 5-speed manual transmission and the 1.4 litre diesel engine comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Safety Features

The Hyundai Venue in 2020 may be low in cost, however when it comes to the standards safety features of this car, you will be amazed to see many good features. Initially, new owners will be able to expect a six airbag system with front and rear side curtain airbags, electronic stability controls and the stability management of their vehicles. Then the good thing, all Venue versions have forward collision avoidance aids for foot detection, lane support and drivers warning. With rear traffic aid, blind spot warning is optional with SEL models and is standard with denim versions.

Pricing

The Hyundai Venue price ranges from Rs 6.75 lakh to the Rs 11.65 lakh price level. Petrol Version price ranges from Rs 6.75 Lakh to Rs 11.65 Lakh. The Venue diesel variants start at Rs. 8.16 Lakh, with a price of Rs. 11.59 Lakh of top-end diesel version. You can select from 19 versions and 8 different colours.
