Hyundai's autonomous flying taxi will make its first passenger flight in 2028. The Korean firm is creating the new company, Supernal based in United States with the aim of developing a seat for four to five passengers, an electric vertical take-off, electric powered eVTOL, and landing aircraft.
Electrical flying cars will be 'part of our future' and will help to reduce congestion on roads, claimed by the auto firm.
The electric air vehicles will be based on the S-A1 concept that was first revealed by Hyundai in 2020. It will be 100 percent electric and will require about 5-7 minutes for recharging during peak hours.
Supernal is working with private and public stakeholders to bring Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) technology along with the development of eVTOL.
It can be used at altitudes between 1,000 to 2,000 feet and is designed in such a way that it can fly on trips of up to 60 miles and has a cruising speed of up to 180mph.
