Hyundai Grand i10 Nios Review

Hyundai Grand i10 Nios is the third generation of popular hatchback Hyundai i10. It offers more premium features, styling, and transmission options than its predecessor.

The original Hyundai i10 was launched on 31 October 2007. The second generation model was launched in the form of Grand i10 in 2014. Over the years, the car has been loved for its practicality, reliability, and a premium looking cabin. Now in its third generation, Grand i10 Nios has been launched in the Indian market. Clubbed with the tried and tested 1.2-litre petrol and 1.2 diesel engines, it will now also offer AMT technology.

Let us find out what Hyundai Grand i10 Nios has on offer.

Exterior

Apart from a regular dual Tone, a fully black trapezoidal front grille with a Turbo badge are present in the Hyundai i10 Nios. An optional double-tone paint shade of black roofing and pillars, LED DRL headlamps, rooftop rails and 175/60 tires with 15-inch alloys give Nios a premium look. The car looks attractive from the outside and is capable of turning heads on the road.

Interior

Just like the exterior, the interior changes are cosmetic. A touch of sportiness is also given by red highlights around the air ventilation system and the rotary air conditioning controls along with red stitching and piping on the seats. The interior is spacious and well-placed with high-quality plastics.

The Turbo features leather-wrapped steering, air conditioning control, dial instruments cluster, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay compliant touch screen, reverse camera, LED DRL projection headlamps, remote key input, and wireless charging. Compared to the top Asta version of the Nios standard, some comfort features like the push-button start/ stop and keyless entry and some crucial features, such as the rear wiper and washer, are not available on lower trims.

Engine Options

This car engine is the same 998cc turbo-petrol three-cylinder engine that debuted in the Hyundai venue, but the only difference is that it produces 100hp in the Nios. It is 20hp less than the compact SUV, but still produces a torque of 172Nm. Power-to-weight and torque-to-weight ratios are better than any other affordable fuel hatchback in this car.

The engine is smooth and refined, but it is not completely vibration-free, especially in idling, as compared with its naturally aspired 1.2- liter four-cylinder engine. This engine gets a bit noisy when it spins faster, although the sound isn't too loud. The 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine is similar to Venue and Verna but with reduced power of 20hp.

The engine is linked to a 5-speed manual Transmission system. With smooth shifts and light as well as positive actions, the gearbox is an absolute pleasure to use. Its clutch is also light, and its steering gives confidence at high speeds. The mechanical grip is good and driving comfort is excellent at high speeds or on bumpy roads.

Pricing

The Pricing of Hyundai Grand i10 Nios ranges between Rs. 5.13 Lakhs to Rs. 8.36 Lakhs. The price of Diesel variants is higher than the petrol variants. The top turbo variant has higher pricing than the normal version.

The interiors of Nios are even better than Grand i10 and comes with a long list of features. There is no reason why it would not perform like its predecessor.
