Hyundai Aura Review

Hyundai Aura is a sub-4-meter compact sedan launched in 2020. It is competing against the likes of the Honda Amaze, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Ford Figo Aspire, Tata Tigor, and more in India. It can be called the replacement for outgoing Hyundai Xcent that has started showing signs of ageing. However, Hyundai is no plans to sell Aura as a Taxi like it has done with Xcent.

Let us find out what Hyundai Aura has on offer.

Exterior

The exterior of Hyundai Aura is a lot similar to Grand i10 Nios. But it has a different grid that extends to the lower bumper, with slightly larger openings for the twin boomerang LEDs. Metalwork extends all the way to the back door. The kink here in the shoulder line, which looks well in Nios, unfortunately, looks unaligned in the Aura and then ends in a relatively high boot deck abruptly. The deck has a little upright edge, but the taillights could be viewed as being too wide. In nutshell, we can say that the design is radicle.

Interior

Hyundai Aura has the same cabin as Nios, carefully arranged, but in a new color combination. Non-turbo models have grey and beige interior and the turbo one is given a sportive grey, dark and red color. While plastics are of higher quality in key touch areas, the pads for the door are all plastic, especially on the rear, do not feel great.

As with new Hyundai cars, the Aura scores high on the front of devices with an 8" smartphone-integrated large and easy to use touchscreen. It is bundled with audio from Arkamys. You can also access the reverse camera images even on the go. The wireless charger, rear AC vents, two airbags, ABS, and more are also included in the list. Strangely enough, there are no automatic wipers and headlights. The sitting arrangement remains comfortable in both front and rear, with good space on the rear because the wheelbase has increased.

Engine Options

The car comes powered with the all-new 1-liter turbo petrol engine. It is great for what feels like a light car with a 998 cc capacity and three cylinders, 100PS power, and 175Nm torque. The Aura Turbo is only available with the five-speed manual gearbox. Nevertheless, the fuel efficiency figure is 20.5 kilometers per liter. The transmission system is of very high quality leading to efficient and comfortable driving.

Silent when starting, the 1-liter turbo wakes up after 1,600 rpm and pulls very enthusiastically all the way through the revs in the range of 6,500 rpm. Typical Hyundai smooth gear shifts are used and a light clutch helps to enhance the effect. In addition, the Aura is as rigid as the Grand i10 Nios. The suspension is strong enough to compensate for the additional weight.

Pricing

For the Hyundai Aura, the price falls in the range of 5.85 Lakhs to 9.28 Lakhs. The car is offered in total of a12 variants, with the top trim having the price of 9.28 Lakhs.

Hyundai Aura offers a pretty radical styling however, with the same trustworthy engine used in its other siblings like Grand i10. It would be interesting to see whether Aura can give competition to market leader Dzire and another strong contender Honda Amaze.
