Honda Has Launched Its Best-Selling BS6 Complaint Two-Wheelers

All 2-wheeler and 4-wheeler vehicles sold on or after April 1, 2020 will have to comply with BS6-emission compliance. In a bid to offer BS6 compliant vehicles from the very start, Honda has launched two vehicles that meet the BS6 emission norms. One is its best selling model Honda Activa and the other one is a BS6 compliant bike called SP 125.

Honda Activa

The BS6 variant of Honda Activa is launched at an introductory price of ₹ 67,490 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the one with alloy wheels is priced at ₹ 70,990.

Honda Activa BS6 is equipped with a retuned engine of 125 cc. The fuel-injected motor gets much lighter internal parts for improved refinement. The new power mill makes slightly less power of 8.1 bhp at 6,500 rpm than the outgoing Activa that made 8.52 bhp at 6,500 rpm.

The new engine also gets Honda Eco Technology (HET) and ESP (Enhanced Smart Power). It also comes equipped with a noiseless alternate current generator (ACG) that makes no noise while starting the engine of Activa. The engine has been thoroughly tested and compliant to run on BS4 fuel as well.

Honda has also given a significant update to the design of Activa. It is upgraded with chrome embellishments on the front and side panels. The tail lamp has been retouched with an LED headlamp and a position lamp. It now features the remote seat hatch operation along with remote fuel-lid operation that is now present outside the seat.

The instrument panel has also been renewed with part analog and part digital setup. It now displays multiple information including fuel consumption figures and distance among others. It now also comes with a side stand indicator which also cuts off the self start if the side stand is down.

SP 125

SP 125 is Honda’s first BS6 compliant motorcycle in the Indian market. It is launched at an introductory price of ₹ 72,900 for the drum brake model and ₹ 77,100 for the disc brake model. It comes with four colours options including Imperial Red, Striking Green, Pearl Siren Blue, Metallic and Matte Axis Grey Metallic.

Its 125-cc BS6 compliant engine is equipped with PGM-FI (Programmed Fuel Injection) and eSP (enhanced smart power) technology. The engine is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and churns out 11 hp and 10.9 Nm of torque. Honda has claimed 16 percent better fuel efficiency with this motor.

The bike is based on the diamond type frame and runs on 18-inch tubeless tyres. The alloy wheels come equipped with a 240 mm disc or 130 mm drum at the front and 130 mm drum brakes at the rear. The braking system is equipped with CBS (combi-brake system) with equaliser.

SP125 comes equipped with a fully digital console and displays information including fuel efficiency, distance to empty, service and trip among others. Other features include LED DC headlamp, integrated headlamp beam, engine start/stop switch and passing switch, and chrome muffler cove among others.
