Get your driving license online; no need to visit RTO office

MoRTH has issued new guidelines for issuing and renewing driving license along with registration certificate of new and old vehicles.

Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has announced the latest guidelines for issuing and renewing driving licenses. Under the new rules, you can now obtain your learning license online. On top of that, you can also use electronic documents and certificates to obtain learner's license, medical certificate, renewal of driving license and surrender of driver's license.

The new guidelines will also makes the registration process of new vehicles easier and faster. You can also renew the registration certificate (RC) of used car 60 days before its expiry. Validity of temporary registration certificate is also increased from 1 month to 6 months.

MoRTH has also rolled out new process to issue driving license. Now you can give the driving test through online tutorial. Hence, you don't need to visit the RTO office to obtain driving license or update RTO vehicle owner details.

In March, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways also extended the validity of RTO documents including registration certificate, driving license, and permits till 30 June, 2021 due to COVID-19 crisis.

MoRTH has advised enforcement authorities consider these documents legal till 30th June 2021.
