Ford India Private Limited is the subsidiary of Ford Motor Company. Ford India Private Limited's is headquartered in Sholinganallur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The American auto major started producing cars in Indian way back in the 1926. However, it stopped production in 1954 due to losses. Ford re-entered the Indian market in October 1995 as Mahindra Ford India Limited (MFIL). It was a 50-50 joint venture with Mahindra & Mahindra Limited. Later, Ford increased its stake to 72% in March 1998 and renamed the entity as Ford India Private Limited.
