Ford India rolled out its very last car, EcoSport at their plant near Chennai on July 20, fulfilling all its export commitments ahead of the formal closure of the unit. With this, the story of Ford's production in India came to a halt.
A white EcoSport, the last Ford is not destined for the Indian market. The company has already stopped domestic sales last year. At launch, it shocked the market by launching at a price of ₹5.59 lakh. It has been one of the most-exported cars in Ford India's line-up.
Ford India will provide extra time to support the completion of tenure discussions with the union, they will continue to pay wages to all employees until August 31, 2022.
