The citizens of the country often try to celebrate the occasion of Independence Day by hoisting the national flags on vehicles. However, there are certain rules about the tricolour. It can even land you in jails if these rules are not being followed.
As per India Flag Code, the privilege of hosting national flag is given to only few people. They are
- Vice President
- Prime Minsiter
- Vice President of India
- Governors and Lieutenant governors, and many more.
Citizens are allowed to display their tricolour at home or carrying them in hand. But hoisting them on private vehicle is considered as a punishable offence.
They can be put behind jail for up to 3 years or can be served with a fine or both.
