Delhi to ban entry of heavy vehicles from October

The Delhi Government has decided to ban the entry of heavy and medium vehicles from other states in the city October to February. This is done to keep pollution check this winter.

However, all the vehicles carrying essential items like vegetables, milk, grain and other similar commodities would be exempted. Additionally, heavy vehicles running on CNG and battery power would also be exempted from the new rule.

Delhi witnesses high level pollution in the winter months, the AQI turns outright toxic including vehicular traffic and stubble burning.

While the move has the potential to bring down vehicular emissions when put into force, not everyone is cheering the decision just yet.
