Heavy goods vehicle now allowed in Delhi as Yamuna water level recedes

The Delhi Transport Department has decided to allow heavy goods vehicles and ease the entry restrictions in light of the Yamuna river's declining water level and an improvement in the flooding situation in several areas of Delhi.

As a precaution, the department had banned the entry of heavy goods vehicles, except those carrying essentials.

Given the urgency of the situation, the transport department issued a circular stating that "the on entry of Heavy Goods Vehicles shall continue only from the Singhu Border" in accordance with Section 115 of the Motor Vehicle Act of 1988.

Trucks transporting critical commodities, such as tankers transporting petroleum products, raw vegetables, fruits, grains, milk, eggs, and ice, as well as pharmaceuticals, will not be subject to the rules.
