Delhi gets the first prototype of an electric DTC bus

The prototype of a first electric bus has reached Delhi after a long wait. Delhi Transport Minister, Kailash Gahlot tweeted along with the pictures of new buses. The department is procuring 300 electric buses whose delivery was due to begin in November 2020, however, it got delayed due to several reasons.

Gahlot tweeted, "Congrats Delhi! After a long wait, a prototype of DTC's first 100 per cent electric bus has reached Delhi! CM Arvind Kejriwal will soon flag off this electric bus,".

More electric buses will be launched in coming months. As per the plan, around 3,500 new e-buses will be added to DTC.

Last year, the Delhi Transport Department floated tenders for induction of 140 low-floor AC electric buses to keep a check on air pollution and to strengthen the public transport fee.
