As we know, the WhatsApp is most downloaded app in India, Uber has partnered with Meta, known as Facebook, to introduce booking feature via WhatsApp in India. But, this facility is currently available for users in Uttar Pradesh and Lucknow. New Delhi will be the second city to roll out the same by next year.
Putting an end to the need of downloading the Uber app, anyone can book an Uber directly from WhatsApp. However, it doesn't means that Uber app will be vanishing away, this is just an add-on service. It will let users to register on Uber, book a cab, and even get a trip receipt on WhatsApp chat itself.
WhatsApp user can book the Uber cab in simple ways :
- Send ‘Hi’ on WhatsApp to +91 7292000002.
- Scan the QR code or visit a link to open the Uber chat window in WhatsApp.
After this, the user is asked to provide the pickup and drop-off location. User will receive all the information including cab fare details and driver's expected time of arrival.
Moreover, the user will be able to track the exact location of the driver and will also be able to contact the driver directly.
In case of an emergency, user can type ‘help’ and select the emergency option. After choosing the emergency option, user will be able to get a call directly from Uber customer care to talk about the concern. Also, the riders can get access to a safety line for 30 minutes after the completion of ride.
As of now, it is currently available in English, but is expected to be available in different languages. This service will be available to both new and existing user.
