BMW launches 6 Series GT Facelift

The facelift will be offered in three variant: 620d, 630d and 630i and will come in BMW’s newest Tanzanite Blue metallic shade.

BMW, India has launched the 6 Series GT in Indian market. The car updated BMW 6 series Gran Turismo was unveiled last year in May in global market, and now it has reached the Indian shore. The new model gets a host of restyling touches and new features as well. The car is claimed to have built on an intelligent lightweight construction that contributes to increased driving dynamics and efficiency, besides reducing weight. It will be available in Luxury Line and M Sport variants.

Design

The updated BMW 6 GT will be offered with a sportier look. The refreshed nip and tuck on the front and rear bumpers gives the 2021 GT a sharper look. At the front, large ‘kidney’ grille has been revised, a slimmer design for the headlamps and moreover, all variants now come with trapezoidal exhaust tips that come as standard now.

GT, however, maintains its notchback-style 6 Series with an active spoiler which extends automatically beyond a speed of 110 kmph and frameless windows. The German automaker has also added a range of new paint shades to the color palette for the buyers to choose from. The M sport variant also features BMW's laser-light technology that helps in distributing light evenly upto 650 metres.

The layout shows the sloping coupe roofline and, the crisp character lines along with large alloy wheels that altogether gives the car a very muscular look.

Interior

On the inside, cabin is the larger. A 12.3-inch digital touchscreen that not only replaces the outgoing 10.25-inch unit, but also comes packed with Android Auto. The company has also added new feature named as 'Reversing Assistant' that takes over the steering duties from the driver while backing up for up to 50 metres.

Besides these, the car carry a long equipment list, including a two 10.25-inch rear-seat entertainment screens, four-zone climate control, 360-degree parking camera, panoramic sunroof, automatic parking, electrically adjustable rear seats, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a wireless charging pad, LED headlights which is now offered with a Laser light function on the top-model M Sport trim, air suspension and doors with a soft close function. For seats and some wood inserts on the dashboard, it gets premium Nappa leather upholstery.

Engine

As before, the new 6 Series GT comes with the same engine. These are, a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine for 630i, a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine for 620d, and a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel unit for 630d. The 630i continues four-cylinder turbocharged mill that push out 258hp and 400Nm-doing a 0-100 kmph sprint in 6.5 seconds. While, the 620d variant generates 188bhp and 620 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the 630d produces 261bhp and 620 Nm of torque. The car gets an 8-speed torque convertor automatic transmission as standard.

Price

The 6 Series GT goes up against the likes of longer wheelbase version of Mercedes’s E class, which, too, was updated recently. The updated GT is priced between 67.90-77.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
