Ban imposed on commercial diesel vehicles, trucks due to Delhi's air quality index

As Delhi's air quality neared 'severe plus' category, a ban is imposed on diesel light motor vehicles (LMV) that are BS3 and BS4 compliant including cars, SUVs on Thursday, by centre's air quality commission. However, BS-VI vehicles and those used for essential and emergency services are exempted.

The air quality panel has also ordered the closure of all industries that are not running on clean fuels in Delhi and adjoining NCR districts. Moreover, construction work in public project in Delhi-NCR have also been banned, such as power transmission, highways, pipelines.

A ban on diesel-powered medium and heavy freight vehicle in Delhi was also issued by the CAQM.
