Mahindra TUV300 Facelift-What's new?

Mahindra is expected to launch TUV 300 and TUV 300 Plus soon. Can these models cut the competition?

All Mahindra models have been launched in their BS6 avatars except for the TUV300 and TUV 300 Plus. The company is working on launching it's fresh lineup and thus a facelifted TUV 300 and TUV 300 Plus are also in the pipeline. They might enter showrooms in the early parts of 2021. The old model debuted a few years ago as Mahindra's  answer to the growing crop of sub-four-metre SUVs. After recording decent sales volume, it could not reach similar heights as the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and other compact SUVs. Let's read about it's new change and style:

Design

The upcoming facelifted TUV300 Plus is seen with an updated version Alturas G4 such as front grille which appears identical to the one on the facelifted TUV300, as per image. It has 6 slat grill with six vertical slats with the Mahindra logo in the centre.

Apart from that, the SUV also gets updated headlamps with clear halogen units, a reworked front bumper with fog lamp honeycomb pattern for the air dam, and more angular fog lamps. The bumper also seems to have a reflector or an indicator light strip. The tail lamps which are vertically positioned  and tailgate mounted spare wheel are retained, as do the squared wheel arches but the alloy wheels look to have been carried forwards.

Interior

The exact details about the interior are yet to be known, we expect from Mahindra to provide more advanced features including a new touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity in the higher variants of the SUV.

Engine

The upcoming model, TUV300 Plus is expected to equipped with the same 2.2-litre diesel engine that powered the BS4 version. It produced 120PS and 280Nm in the BS4 guise with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Price

The updated TUV300 Plus is expected to be priced at a slight premium over the corresponding BS4 variants that were priced at Rs 9.92-11.42 lakh respectively (ex-showroom). Even though it does not have any direct rivals as such, it takes on compact SUVs such as the  Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. The company is also expected to reveal the facelifted TUV300 soon with similar styling changes.
