2021 Jeep Compass 7 seater Premium SUV

Jeep is all set to launch the 7-seater version of Compass in the Indian market to compete with the likes of Mahindra, Tata, and Toyota. Check out the details.

The seven-seater SUV segment does not have many contenders in India as of now. But, the new SUV will be launched in many international markets this year, including India. Jeep Compass too has been doing very well in India, facing many tough competitions from the launch. Apart from the obvious facelift, it is set to get update very soon and it can be the seven-seater version of the famous SUV. And can be codenamed as 'Low D 3-row SUV'.

Design

The new seven-seater Jeep Compass will share the monocoque platform but will surely come with larger dimensions from the extended rear overhang to accommodate the third row of passengers. This will also result in improved space cabin. We expect the bigger wheelbase and also seems to add a few inches to its height. It will aim to provide better space utilization than rivals and utmost comfort in the segment.

The new SUV will surely come with additional cosmetic changes to help it stand out in the market. Bu this logic, it is expected to get a slightly reworked seven-slat grille, redesigned front bumper, sharper LED headlights and LED fog lamps with new housings.

Engine

India-spec SUV will come with the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder Multijet four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 170PS of power and 350 Nm of peak torque from the existing Compass but with a different performance tuning with 200 hp. The engine is expected to come paired with a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox as standard. An all-wheel drive systeem is also set to be offered considering its higher price point.  

Features

Although, Jeep has not officially disclosed much details of this segment but is expected to be very well equipped. On the inside, it is expected to feature more premium upholstery and dash layout. The cabin will also gain a few features such as tablet-style touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

It will also receive an updated UConnect connectivity tech and a revised centre console in line with Compass facelift. Extra features includes like the full-LED auto headlamps, cruise control, panoramic sunroof, 18-inch wheels, and ESP to name a few.

Price

Jeep Grand 7-seater Compass is expected to hit Indian showrooms in late 2021 and is expected to compete with other premium three-row SUVs like, Ford Endeavour, MG Gloster, XUV 500, Tata Safari, and Toyota Fortuner. Prices are expected to start northwards of Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom).
