Hyundai Alcazar is going to be the flagship SUV of the Korean automaker. Can it beat the completion? Let us find out.

Hyundai Creta has been one of the hot selling compact SUVs in the Indian car market. But now Hyundai is planning to introduce a 7-seat SUV version of the hot SUV. After bringing it's new-gen Creta, Hyundai is all set to launch a 7-seater Creta in the second half of 2021. The Korean automaker has revealed the name Alcazar for the 7-seater SUV. It was earlier spotted on international roads.

Exterior

Expect a revised bolder front grille with an extra helping of chrome, revised bumper, flatter roof towards the back end, additional rear quarter and thinner C-pillar and obviously, an extension in the overhangs. From the appearance of the mule, the vehilce looks considerably longer than the existing Creta.

At the rear, there are new wrap around tail lamps that replace the Creta's sleeker ones. Alloy wheels are also likely to witness a do-over with the former expected to look a little less polarising. The 7-seat Hyundai Alcazar will sit on 20mm longer wheelbase as compared to it's younger sibling. Apart from this, the upcoming gen can be expected to come in distinct color options and different trim options.

Interior

On the interior, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, bose sound system, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree parking camera, ventilated front seats, front parking sensors, powered driver seat, ESP modes, and air purifier. We are also expecting some safety features which is same as the Creta as well with front parking sensors, multiple airbags, tyre pressure monitor and ESP (electronic stability program).

Inside the cabin, noticeable changes will also be made. The new SUV will come with 3-row seats setup which expected to be a foldable unit which could free up more boot space than the usual 430 litres featuring captain seat setup for the second row.

Engine

Being a 7-seater, given the extra weight, the company is likely to refrain from offering the lower powered 1.5-litre petrol engine. Instead, it may only have the 1.4-litre turbo petrol and the 1.5-litre diesel. We are expecting hyundai to provide the 1.4-litre turbo petrol with a 6-speed manual as well.

Pricing

The upcoming 7-seater Creta would be priced at around Rs 1 lakh over the standard model’s (Rs 9.82 lakh to Rs 17.32 lakh) corresponding variants. The upcoming model, three-row SUV equipped with its more additional cabin will be better come to take on mid-size SUVs just like the Hector and the Harrier. Other than this, it will also be act as an alternative to the Mahindra XUV500, MG Hector Plus, and the upcoming Tata Gravitas.
