Maruti Suzuki has announced that all the top 5 selling cars in India are from its stable for the fourth consecutive year.
Maruti Suzuki on Tuesday announced that India’s 5 top selling cars come from its stable. This has happened for the fourth consecutive year. It also revealed that Swift has now become the top selling car with over 1.72 lakh units.
Its other models Baleno, WagonR, Alto, and Dzire registered sales of 1.63 lakh, 1.60 lakh, 1.59 lakh, and 1.28 lakh respectively.
“The 2020 brought in fresh challenges to the economy but customer’s trust remained unchanged. Alongside the year also brought new opportunities to innovate and connect with the customer. We strengthened our digital presence to cater to changing needs of the new tech-savvy customers. We along with our partners and stakeholders focused on re-building customer confidence. Initiatives like Smart finance and Subscribe helped bring positivity to the market,” Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, MSIL, said.
The above mentioned 5 top selling models contributed to around 30 percent of overall passenger vehicles sales in fiscal year 2020-2021. Maruti Suzuki has been the maker of top 5 selling vehicles since 2017-18. For over a decade now, Maruti has been the seller of top 4 selling vehicles in India.
COVID-19 has been one of the reason of brisk sales in the passenger car segment. Social distancing norms and lack of public transport have compelled more Indians to buy a car in this pandemic for safer commute.
