The all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class launched in the Indian market. The W223 S-Class will be offered as The S 400d and S450 with 4MATIC all-wheel-drive and air-suspension as standard.
The all-new seventh generation of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class was unveiled in India last year in September 2020. Also known as the W223 (V223 for the long-wheelbase version) has now finally arrived in India with a pricing tag of Rs 2.17 crore (ex-showroom, India). It will arrive via CBU route and is offered in 400d 4Matic and 450 4matic variants.
Exterior
The new W223 S-Class is bigger than the previous model. The Indian spec S-Class measures 5,289mm long, 1503mm tall, 1954mm wide and have a wheelbase of 3,216 mm. The exterior of the new S-Class features new ‘Digital LED headlamps’ with a new headlamp design. It also offers a new design for the LED DRLs. It also features pop-out door handles, a new front bumper with larger air intakes, new chrome grill with three horizontal blades, 20-inch alloy wheels, rear-wheel steering, and flush retractable door handles.
Color options
The 2021 Mercedes is available in five paint screens - Onyx Black, Designo Diamond White, Anthracite Blue, Emerald Green and Rubellite Red.
Interior
The interior has undergone a major changes too, especially the cockpit, with the choice of sienna brown and black, or all-beige upholstery. The 12.8-inch cabin will has the latest generation of the MBUX infotainment system that rises up from the central console. The 12.3-inch digital driver’s display is still there and it’s highly customizable varying on what layout and how much information the driver is willing to see.
Additionally, 4D Burmeitsher sound system will allow you to feel the sounds and music with sensors in the seats. There’s an option of a 3D view for the cluster using cameras that detect the eyes to adjust the displayed items accordingly. It is also equipped with comforts such as autonomous parking assist four-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, and a 360-degree camera.
Engine
The S-Class will be available in petrol and diesel engine options. The S 400d comes with the 3.0-litre 6-cylinder diesel engine that produces 330hp and a notable 700Nm of torque. The S 450 petrol engine is also an in-line 6-cylinder, turbocharged unit, that produces 367hp and 500Nm. Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel drive system and a 9-speed automatic gearbox come standard on both variants.
