All-new Maruti Suzuki Baleno launched at ₹ 6.35 lakh

The refreshed Maruti Suzuki Baleno is finally launched in India. Its price starts from Rs 6.35 lakh to Rs 9.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India). New Baleno bookings are now open, and deliveries will begin shortly. You can also get the car at Rs 13,999 per month through Maruti's subscription scheme.

Exterior

The new Baleno has a more modern look than the previous model. Clamshell bonnet, reprofiled bumper, wraparound headlights, and new fog light housings are all part of the new NEXWave grille design. The same three-element LED Daytime Running Lamp will feature on all upcoming Nexa models.

New 16-inch alloy wheels, sharper shoulder lines, and an extended chrome strip below the window line are some of the exterior changes.

A redesigned bumper and C-shaped LED taillights are on the rear. There are six color options for the new Baleno - Opulent Red, Nexa Blue, Grandeur Grey, Arctic White, Splendid Silver, Luxe Beige.

Interior and feature

The dashboard of the Baleno features a new three-layered dashboard with a black top layer and a dark blue bottom layer. The seat upholstery and doors are dark blue. The dashboard design of the new Baleno is similar to that of the new S-Cross sold in other countries, and the dashboard design of the upcoming Brezza is likely to be similar as well.

Along with the new instrument cluster shared with the S-Cross, the new Baleno gets new climate control switchgear, a new front seats, new steering wheel, and a new instrument cluster design.

The new Baleno has Apple CarPlay, a 9.0-inch Smartplay Pro+ freestanding touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, 360-degree cameras, 'Suzuki Connect' connected car technology, automatic climate control, heads-up display (HUD), voice command support, an auto-dimming IRVM keyless entry and go, tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, Amazon Alexa support, and an Arkamys surround sound system. But Maruti Suzuki excluded a sunroof from the list of features.

Engine and transmission

The new Baleno has a 90hp 1.2L DualJet K12N petrol engine. Optional 5-speed manual or AMT automatic transmissions (replacing the earlier model's CVT) are available. According to the ARAI claim, fuel efficiency is 22.35 kpl for the new engine's manual gearbox and 22.94 kpl for the new AMT's automatic gearbox. Baleno gets a new suspension and larger 14-inch disc brakes on all four corners from Maruti.

Competition

The new Maruti Suzuki Baleno will compete with other premium hatchbacks in our market, like Tata Altroz ,Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai i20, and the soon updated Toyota Glanza.
