Jeep India has commenced production of the locally built Wrangler at the brand's facility in Ranjangaon. The production has already commenced and launched in India on 15 March 2021. The Wrangler is the second SUV to be produced locally, after the mid-size SUV Compass. It's the first time that the iconic Wrangler will be made in India, so far it was fully imported. Therefore, India is also the export hub for all major right-hand drive global markets.
Interior
On the interior, this trim gets equipped with the 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car technology, seven-inch MID, voice command and navigation, dual-zone climate control, Alpine stereo system, a twin-pod analog instrument cluster, keyless entry, LED headlamps, push-button start/stop, ambient lighting, a tyre-pressure monitoring system, 60:40 split-folding rear seats, washable floors, rear AC vents, and multiple 12V sockets and USB ports.
As far as safety is concerned, it is equipped with four airbags, front and rear parking sensors, ABS with EBS, a rear parking camera, electronic roll mitigation, traction control, ESC, and hill-start and descent control.
Exterior
It is offered in two variants: Sahara and Rubicon. On the exterior, the fourth gen-Wrangler Unlimited the signature seven-slat front grille with circular LED headlamps with LED DRLs. The black lower bumper houses the fog lamps give the Wrangler its rugged look. Also, it is furthermore enhanced by the body-color fender flares that house the large 18-inch alloy wheels. A full-size spare wheel is mounted on the tailgate and the full-frame doors are fully removable while the back is finished with vertically placed LED taillamps.
Engine
The imported Wrangler was offered with 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, a turbo-petrol engine which was rated at 268hp and 400Nm of torque, paired to an 8-speed torque automatic transmission, powered all four wheels of the Wrangler. It is expected that it would likely continue to offer the similar but Jeep has taken this opportunity to launch the 2.2-litre diesel too.
It comes with a 4WD drivetrain that includes low and high modes and a differential lock at each axle.
Price
Since the Jeep’s Wrangler is currently produced locally, we tend to expect it to be priced lower than the CBU model. Also, it was fully imported so far, it is priced from Rs 63.94-68.94 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
